Ribbon Cutting Marks Restoration Of The Gardens At Georgetown
Alan Aulson led the effort to restore The Gardens at Georgetown and has invited the community to a ribbon cutting planned for Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the site on Andover Street beyond the golf course. He organized support from the Georgetown American Legion, the Kiwanis, the Knights of Columbus, local businesses and many residents to revive the long-neglected garden areas.
Neighbors watched goats from the Aulson family’s Goats-to-Go business nibble through dense bittersweet and other overgrowth while farm equipment from the family’s Great Rock Farm removed rusted posts and fencing. Volunteers worked alongside prisoners from the Essex County Sheriff’s Pre-Release Center to clear debris, and organizers estimate roughly 30 truckloads of materials were hauled away. The Town Common says the brief ribbon cutting is Aulson’s way of thanking everyone who helped restore the site to the community.
